About us

Vita Europe was born from within the well-established Vita non profit contents group which, since 1994, has been publishing the benchmark third sector weekly newspaper in Italy.

One of its most promising and vibrant journalists thought that what Vita had brought to Italy in terms of civil society identity and culture, it should also bring to Europe.

A challenge, to say the least. What started out as Vita Fax, has now transformed into Vita Europe or www.vitaeurope.org; and a couple of years on, we have managed to assemble around us a young, inspired and energetic team not afraid to roll up its sleeves and get to work. Here we are:

Carlotta Jesi

Managing editor/journalist

I admit it: a degree in philosophy and several pit stops across Europe thanks to the Erasmus programme made me think I could make the world a better place landing in Brussels. Alas! An internship at the European Parliament and I quickly changed my plans: as a journalist, I was going to give voice to the best practices of civil society. That is, to you. Are you ready for an interview?

Vita Sgardello

Content manager/journalist

I am Canadian and Italian by birth and currently live in Milan. My main interest is the environment. As a journalist I write about environmental and social issues but what really gets me out of bed in the morning is the thought of unmasking wildlife crime. I am currently learning the ins and outs of covert surveillance and hope to specialize unmasking illegal trade in endangered species. I am proud to be a member of this passionate team of journalists. Have a story to tell?

Courtney Clinton

Head researcher/journalist

Born in Canada, I came to Europe for the first time on a University study abroad programme. After spending time in both France and Italy I decided to settle in Italy - the coffee is better here. I have always been actively involved with civil society as a volunteer in Canada and was thrilled to join Vita Europe where I have discovered the world of civic engagement, volunteerism and non profit organisations in Europe. Any questions/suggestions about the Non Profit Atlas?

Cristina Barbetta

Events and profile manager/Journalist

After a degree in Law, I found myself allergic to codes and courts, they were not creative or inspiring enough for me! So I committed myself to what I had always liked: languages and foreign cultures. Being interested in European issues, I started working at Vita Europe, where I am responsible for the European non profit events Agenda. I am also in charge of a new development to the website: the Non Profit Identity Cards. Have an event to tell me about? A project story to be mapped?
