Dreams turn into reality..

...At AIESEC Annual Summit 2012, this year at its third edition

di Cristina Barbetta

The third edition of AIESEC Annual Summit was held in Milan to foster the internationalization of Italian companies and to propose practical solutions of Corporate Social Responsibility to them. The meeting was also an opportunity to present AIESEC Italia’s last year activities while also introducing the activities for the year 2012/2013.
AIESEC is the world’s largest organization run by university students, present in over 110 countries and territories and with over 60,000 members. Since it was founded in 1948, AIESEC has been focused on  providing a platform for youth leadership development operating in favor of international mobility with the aim of bringing peace and favoring the full development of human potential.
The International Placement Program, AIESEC’s internship programme offering Italian companies the opportunity to bring international and talented young people into their structures, was presented at the event. For more than 60 years, AIESEC has been allowing companies to participate to this placement programme, to promote their internationalization and increase their competitiveness. PwC and Unicredit have participated to the event as testimonials and supporters.
The Summit introduced Youth Change, an initiative aimed at fulfilling one of AIESEC’s main goals: develop youth potential organizing initiatives that can have a positive impact on society. Youth Change is AIESEC Italia’s national initiative offering companies practical solutions of Corporate Social Responsibility. It consists of a series of projects carried out in AIESEC Italia’s 16 local seats, based on issues such as education, environmental education and nutrition.
AIESEC has finally presented the Ethiopia project. AIESEC Ethiopia was founded by AIESEC Italia in 2007, thanks to the contribution of KPMG. During the past year two Italian AIESECERS, Elena Gaffurini (President of AIESEC Ethiopia) and Elisa Valenti (Projects Responsible) were part of the managing board of AIESEC in Ethiopia, contributing to the growth of the project, with the support of KPMG. Projects carried out in Ethiopia last year focused on education, women empowerment and IT empowerment.
This year, five years after the opening of the offices in Ethiopia, AIESEC Italia has decided to support the opening of AIESEC’s offices in Albania, the only country in Europe where there is still not an AIESEC office.
