Tips on how to make the most out of podcasts

How to study online

Before delving into the material, have a look at our tips on how to make the most out of the online lectures and podcasts.

Take note and create your own library

Podcasts do not require you to sit an exam to gain university credits or certificates, but they are still a fantastic resource to hone your skills and improve your knowledge.  So consider creating a folder and taking notes when you listen to them, this way you can catalogue the different topics and create your own library. This will make it easier for you to remember what you have listened to and to get back to it if needed.

Transform it into an interactive experience

Podcasts lack the interactive experience of being in a classroom with other students with a teacher you can ask questions to, but  you can still get feedback, exchange ideas and share perspectives about what you have just learnt.

You may want to search for forums dealing with your specific topic.  Once you have signed up, you will join a community of like-minded people that share the same interest - or need - as you do, be it social entrepreneurship, sustainable development or just about any other topic under the sun. Just google them, and see what comes up.  The same goes for yahoo groups or other similar mailing lists and networks.

Go blog-hunting

You can get further information by reading other people's blogs, as a way to gain insights or information. Make sure the source/writer is reliable, or look out for experts in your field, as most experts do tend to have their own blogs nowadays as a way to keep in touch with people wanting to know more about the topic they deal with.
