di Staff

Social Tech Seed is an open investment programme that supports entrepreneurs focusing their talent and technology on tackling some of the big social issues in sectors including education, employability and healthcare.
The programme, from the Nominet Trust,  will offer up to £50,000 in funding, as well as business support – including mentoring, marketing and communications, business development expertise and networking opportunities- to nurture, develop and test early-stage ventures using digital for social impact.
Social Tech Seed  is now open for applications, the closing date for Stage 1 applications is Wednesday 2nd April 2014.
Who can apply to Social Tech Seed? The majority of ventures the Nominet Trust invests in are UK-based.  However, they  will consider applications from overseas ventures if they clearly demonstrate how they will address social challenges faced in the UK. They are seeking applications from: entrepreneurs, teams or organizations who want to apply their talent and technology to address UK social issues; start ups, early-stage ventures or teams working within an existing large organization and looking to develop a radically new approach. Individuals can apply for funding but, if they are successful, they will be required to form a registered legal entity before they  can receive their  first payment.
If Stage 1 application is successfully shortlisted, applicants are invited to complete online Stage 2 application form which must be submitted no later than Wednesday 7th May 2014.
