Uk: Wales has a Social Enterprise Strategy.
The objectives are: creating an enabling environment and establishing the value of social enterprise.
The Welsh Assembly Government has now published its Social Enterprise Strategy for Wales. The Strategy has been developed after widespread consultation with the social enterprise sector and comes on the back of the Social Enterprise Action Plan, a consultation document issued in July 2003.
The objectives of the strategy are: creating an enabling environment, making social enterprises better businesses, establishing the value of social enterprise, encouraging the development of new opportunities.
The Strategy also stipulates some clear targets to be achieved by 2008: 80 new social enterprises incorporated, £1 million growth in turnover, £12 million investment in assets, £2 million in new contracts secured by social enterprises.
