The event launching the congress took place on Tuesday, the 25th of March, in Lima, Peru, with a working session on corporate volunteering promoted by the Peruvian organizations Perú2012 and the Asociación Trabajo Voluntario.
The I Congreso Iberoamericano de Voluntariado Corporativo will have a duration of eight months and will feature a broad programme of online and off-line activities across three cities: México D.F. (in May), Bogotá (in July) and Barcelona (in October), with many events taking place in different cities of Latin America (Lima, Managua, Caracas, Buenos Aires, Panama City, Montevideo and Santiago de Chile, among others) and of Spain (Madrid, Seville and Valencia). It will see the participation of more than 1,000 businesses and NGOs from Spain and Latin America.
The main purpose of the congress is to debate and promote lines of development of corporate volunteering for the next years, starting from the experience gained by businesses and NGOs from Spain and Latin America. This way, participants will analyze the impact of corporate volunteering inside businesses, the impact of corporate volunteering in society and the relationship with the different stakeholders, as well as the experience that it brings to volunteering employees.
Four businesses – Banco Santander, ENDESA, Fundación Repsol and Fundación Telefónica – cooperate in the organization of this meeting at a global level. Furthermore, the congress is supported by NH Hotel Group, ATresMedia, Voluntarios de la Caixa (Fasvol), Cemex and Corresponsables.
