A survey on the voluntary sector has been presented in Padua , at Civitas (the main European fair on solidarity and social and civil economy) the first days of May.

The research, presented by the NGO Intervita and made by Future Concept Lab shows that 83.4% of Italians commit to solidarity: 41.9 % give support through donations, 41.5 % through voluntary work, 31.5% through long distance adoption of children in developing countries.

In 70% of the cases the choice of the entity to which donate money is made through acquaintances.

In one third of the cases the decision to make a long distance adoption is taken within the family: for 51% of the people interviewed it is a way to educate children to solidarity, 19.4% considers it a mean of stimulating their environment on social issues and it is therefore made together with colleagues, schoolmates, friends..
