Italy: OAD, Italy improves (but it is just an illusion)

87% of the 5 billion dollars allocated by Italy is the result of decisions made by other countries

di Redazione

According to DAC, OECD?s Development Assistance Committee, Italy has reached 0.29% in the relation between Overseas Development Aid and GDP

This means more than five billion dollars, the double of what was allocated in 2005. However, 87% of the all amount is the result of decisions made by other countries. For instance: 1.68 billion dollars are connected to Iraq and Nigeria external debt cancellation decided by all donors; another billion dollars is constituted by automatic payment to the European Commission.

Therefore Italy is moving from the last to the fifteenth place among the 22 OECD Countries monitored by DAC just because many of these countries have not had the opportunity to cancel Iraq and Nigeria external debt.
