The Social Enterprise Investment Fund, which offers grants and loans to the health and social care sector, is now open for business under the management of Government-backed loan fund Futurebuilders England and infrastructure body Partnerships UK, David Ainsworth of Third Sector Online reported yesterday.
The £100m fund has already lent more than £20m to 200 social enterprises since it began in 2007. The fund was previously administered by Community Health Partnerships, an independent company owned by the Department of Health.
“The Social Enterprise Investment Fund provides not only loans and grants, but also valuable business support,” said care services minister Phil Hope.
Jonathan Lewis, chief executive of Futurebuilders, said: “Social enterprises are increasingly delivering valuable public services. This fund can really help organisations working to deliver innovative health or social care services locally.”
“We are also offering additional support to help them succeed through better management and use of funding.”
