Green eating Ghent

di Redazione

The Flemish city of Ghent in Belgium, which is known as a medieval gem, has launched a new initiative called “Veggie Dag” – veggie day. Veggie day will happen every Thursday, and will see the town go meat, fish and seafood free. The initiative has been taken in response to global warming, as well as growing obesity rates. Commenting on his innovative scheme, Tom Balthazar, the Labour party councillor said «There’s nothing compulsory. We just want to be a city that promotes sustainable and healthy living». Indeed while all restaurants must guarantee a vegetarian meal on their menus, only some will fully go vegetarian. www.visitflanders.co.uk
