Hungary: Website to give boost to donation culture
A website dedicated to the culture of donation has been launched to keep track of donation trends and to promote a culture of donation in Hungary
In late January, a donation site was launched in Hungary. It is www.adhat.hu. The site is operated by a Hungarian foundation, NIOK (Nonprofit Információs és Oktató Központ ? Non-profit Information and Education Centre). It provides information on eleven thousand civil organisations expecting donation in different forms. The foundation aims to give a boost to the Hungarian donation culture. Furthermore, it also targets to make civil organisations' work transparent and to help donors.
According to some researches, Hungarians are ready to donate: approximately 70 percent of the Hungarian population, above age of 14, donates in different forms. Women are more active in traditional donation, meaning the help by giving money or objects, while men are better at voluntary work.
Readers can find organisations selected ? amongst others ? by activity or type of donation wanted. If potential donors do not want to spend time with browsing, but intend to help, then they can offer objects or money as advertisement placed on the website. Later on, they can choose from the applicant organisations' project and programme plans and pick the best ones. Moreover, on the site there are legal and practical tips and hints.
