The II Effective Cooperation International Forum
The International Effective Cooperation in Europe Forum became the central in the series of events directed toward establishing the international platform, which is aiming to present the most effective models for international cooperation as well as possibilities for their adaptation for specific local situations. Participants were politicians, businessmen, representatives of educational institutions, NGOs and other organizations from different countries.

Amazing Race for Literacy
The “race” will be a walk, around the center of Brussels, that will highlight locations of “literary importance” (and test people’s knowledge of famous literature facts in their very own city!). This is a family friendly race. Participation is free, but are requested to donate €10 per person. All donations go to the “Exile Centre” in Brussels which provides mentoring, education and refuge to young people from war-torn regions.

Conference: Commodities and Raw Materials: Challenges and Policy Responses
How are prices in commodity markets set and what is the best way for individual countries and the European Union to guarantee secure supplies? Might high prices actually be beneficial in terms of stimulating increased supply and the development of alternatives? What kind of policy responses might be needed at the EU, G-20, WTO and other international levels? These are just some of the questions that this one-day conference will address. GMES and Climate Change Conference
With the adoption of the regulation on GMES and its initial operations last year, the European Earth monitoring programme (GMES) is becoming operational. GMES shall comprise, among others, a service providing access to information for climate change monitoring in support of adaptation and mitigation policies. This conference is the opportunity to discuss the extent of existing information for climate change monitoring and debate on the present and future user needs. Commissioners Tajani and Hedegaard as well as the Finnish Minister for Economics will give the opening speeches.

EU Funds Contributing to Roma Integration
The Commission is organising high-level events about the contribution of EU funds to the integration of Roma in Bulgaria in June. They come as a follow-up to the 2008 EU Roma Summit in Brussels and to similar events in Hungary in 2009 and Romania in 2010. A national event will be organised on 21 and 22 June 2011 in Sofia, and will be followed by two regional events in Veliko Tarnovo on 23 June 2011 and Burgas on 24 June 2011. These events aim at raising awareness about the opportunities offered by EU funds, promoting their use and improving the impact of projects supported by them. They are also part of a process towards a better involvement of the Roma in the implementation of the EU funds operational programmes.
